When can I start?
You are welcome to come along to any of the classes- anyone can join at any time. It is a good idea to contact your instructor beforehand to inform them that you wish to attend the class so that they are aware that you wish to attend and bring a welcome pack for you to take away with you. You can contact sensei Cliff Witcher on 07572091050 or Sensei Adam Gold on 07825559642 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Do I need to wear/ bring anything to my trial session?
Nothing that you wouldn't expect- wear loose clothing and bring a drink with you as the class will have breaks. You will be barefoot during the classes so your footwear will not be important. Once your trial is done and you wish to sign up for regular lessons you will be able to purchase any uniform and equipment that is required directly with your instructor.
I've never done anything like this before... I might feel a bit awkward...
We understand how you feel.
It is worth remembering that anyone in any martial arts class was once a beginner and likely felt that way when they attended their first class too. Zen Kenpo clases do not have a place for egotism or showing off. The classes are a safe and welcoming place for people to meet to train in self protection and the atmosphere of the class will reflect that. You will be made to feel welcome and your instructor will be glad to help you and answer any questions that you might have- that is why they teach!
Do I need to be fit to do this?
No you don't.
The classes will place some emphasis on fitness but this will be taken at your level and you will find your fitness improve over time. We have instructors who are qualified in fitness as well as martial arts who can help you with your goals.
Can I be sure that your instructors are qualified?
This is a good question.
There are a lot of martial arts schools out there and, unfortunately, a lot of unscrupulous people too. It is for this reason that Zen Kenpo schools operate a 'transparent document policy' meaning that our instructors carry their documents with them to every class which you are welcome to see and check. These would include: instructor qualification/ recognition, grade certificate, instructor/ student certificate, DBS/ CRB checked, public liability/ indemnity, first aid etc.
How much do classes cost?
It depends on how many classes you attend. Speak with your instructor for more details.
What if I cannot commit to training every week?
We understand that life can be hectic.
We recommend training every week but if that is not possible you can pay for a number of classes which can be used when you need them. Individually purchased classes are £7 per class for adults or £6 per class for children. You would still need to be licensed and insured to train. License and insurance is currently £35 for adults or £30 for childrenfor 12 months.
Can I come and watch a class?
Yes you can.
Your FREE trial session gives you entry to the class. Sometimes it is better to take the plunge and give it a try though. Remember- you have a FREE trial so you might as well use it.
The sooner you start, the sooner you can improve your fitness, skill and confidence.
I have some more questions to ask before I start. Who can I call?
You can contact sensei Cliff Witcher on 07572091050 or Sensei Adam Gold on 07825559642 or email email@example.com
